Let me start off by saying that it's been way too long since I wrote a post on here. But I'm here now so we can finally catch up!
The not-as-fun-as-the-next-bit bit...
First things first, let's get some housekeeping out of the way.
You may have noticed that over the past few weeks, months, etc, there has been a distinct lack of posts here on the h9blog. Well, for those of you that don't know I'm currently in my final year of University (I'm studying Computer Science at the University of York), and as it turns out juggling the sheer volume of final year work, and remembering to write a weekly blog post, has not been as easy as I had hoped. Long story short, I chose the University work over the blog post writing, which was probably the right decision.
Now, my somewhat unforgiving schedule has led to another sacrifice recently... the h9cast. Up until a few weeks ago Jack and I (and sometimes special guests) had recorded an episode of the h9cast pretty much every week for just over a year (there are 51 episodes in total, so I'll admit we missed a couple of weeks of here and there), but after a lot of discussion we decided we needed a bit of a break. Now this doesn't mean that the h9cast is dead forever, but for right now we have logged out of Skype, hung up our microphones, and reclaimed our Sunday evenings. Hopefully this will give us a little time to recharge, and work on all of the other things that have been piling up, and one day in the future we may well be back.
It hasn't all been bad news though. The past couple of months have seen the introduction of a brand new series here on the h9blog, and that's Camera B. Each week for the past 10 weeks Leslie Hor and I have sat down and given you our opinions on the latest and greatest movies from the silver screen. We even did a special episode entirely dedicated to the 88th Annual Academy Awards (I'd never watched a whole Oscars ceremony before!). Unfortunately we've now reached the end of our first 10 episode season, but in true show business style that doesn't mean we're done. As they say "the show must go on!" (I'll admit I'm stretching the meaning of that a little), and with that in mind we secretly recorded a bunch of 'mini' episodes of Camera B to be aired during our break. We'll be releasing those over the next few weeks along with a special behind the scenes look at how we record Camera B once all of the mini episodes have been released.
In summary, things have been quieter here than I had hoped, but we're by no means done.
The end is in sight!
The good news is that my final year University woes are almost over. In just a few weeks all of my assessments will have been handed in, and I'll have sat my final exams. Admittedly that doesn't mean I'm going to be able to just sit back and relax -- after all I'm going to need to enter the world of work at some point -- but it hopefully does mean I'm going to have a little more free time to spend as I wish.
What does that mean then for the blog? Well, hopefully it means we'll be able to get back to producing content to go right here on the website. We've got plenty of ideas, and a few things already in the works, and I'm looking forward to sharing them all with you very soon. To whet your appetite I can now officially announce that there will be a second season of Camera B coming a little later this year, and we're currently working on plans for a new video series, more on that in the coming weeks.
Lots to look forward to!
Overall things are hopefully just going to get better and better. We've got lots of content planned, and soon we should have the time to actually make it! Of course, as always, if you have any ideas for content you'd like to see here on the blog then add it as a comment to this post, or alternatively email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
For now that's it, but I'll hopefully see you again real soon right here on the h9blog!
P.S. Oh, and while I remember, go and subscribe to the official h9blog YouTube account right now to make sure you don't miss out on any of our upcoming content!
